Dean W. Krehmeyer is the Executive Director of the Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics. He is responsible for the design, development and implementation of major research and instructional projects in the field of business ethics, including program conceptualization, strategic design of educational and research programs, coordination of the Institute’s Advisory Council – a body comprised of CEOs from major corporations and leading academicians in ethics, and communication with the media and corporate clients.  

Krehmeyer is the co-author of the Institute report, “Breaking the Short-Term Cycle: Discussion and Recommendations on How Corporate Leaders, Asset Managers, Investors, and Analysts Can Refocus on Long-Term Value.” He also has facilitated Institute seminars for Boards of Directors and senior corporate executives, specifically in the areas of corporate governance and business ethics. Mr. Krehmeyer is a regular commentator in the media, including Fortune, CFO Magazine, NPR Marketplace, Financial Times, New York Times, BBC World News, and CNBC.

Mr. Krehmeyer is a Certified Public Accountant and has over fifteen years of financial and managerial experience. Prior to joining the Institute, Krehmeyer was a Manager with A.T. Kearney, one of the world’s largest management consulting firms. While at A.T. Kearney, he focused largely on finance transformation and operations strategy projects for Fortune 500 companies, working with senior executives in designing and implementing initiatives that added value to all of the client’s stakeholders. Krehmeyer was also previously with Deloitte & Touche LLP, a global public accounting firm, in Business Advisory & Assurance Services.

Mr. Krehmeyer holds an MBA from The Darden School, where he was awarded the William Michael Shermet Award for Academic Excellence. He also holds an M.S. in Accounting and B.S in Commerce, both from the University of Virginia.


Jeffrey Ward

Jeffrey Ward is a Washington, D.C.-based entrepreneur with over twenty years’ experience in international management, consulting, marketing, sales, leadership training, travel and tour operations, and executive coaching. He is the principal owner of both Northward Leadership and Development, Inc. and Savvy Navigator Tours, LLC.

He holds a BA in political science and German from Austin College, and an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Mr. Ward is a Professional Certified Coach, and has served on the faculty of the Coaches Training Institute. He recently completed work on the planning committee of the Executive Coaching Summit, an annual think tank of the world’s leading executive coaches, and he is President of the Board of Trustees for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, DC/VA Chapter.

Throughout his career in high technology and the airline industry in North America and Europe, Mr. Ward held a progression of IT, training, sales and marketing positions, leading and managing small and large teams. He served as the managing director in Canada for Canadian Airlines and American Airlines, where he and his team were responsible for over $800 million in annual revenue. His final assignment in the corporate world was as the American Airlines representative to the oneworld™ Alliance at British Airways world headquarters in London.
Since founding Northward Leadership and Development in 2001, Mr. Ward has developed a thriving practice, coaching teams, executives and other professionals from major airlines, the US federal government, banks, consulting firms, telecom, advertising agencies, law firms, independent entrepreneurial companies, and many more. His executive coaching client base lives and works on four continents.

In 2008, Mr. Ward jumped back into the travel industry and created Savvy Navigator, offering luxurious, experiential journeys to Southern-Hemisphere destinations (Southern Africa and South America) to a GLBT client roster.

He speaks German fluently and enjoys traveling for business and for pleasure. When not working, he loves to hang with his family and dog at his home in urban Washington, DC or at his mountain retreat in rural West Virginia.


Paul J. Simko

Paul J. Simko is Associate Dean of the MBA for Executives Program and Associate Professor of Business Administration at the Darden School of Business, the University of Virginia. His research centers broadly on issues related to financial accounting information; he has received numerous national and university recognitions for his work. Professor Simko is particularly interested in topics related to how alternative accounting treatments affect the decisions of investors and financial analysts, and how investors assess firms’ earnings quality. His current research examines the incentives and consequences of earnings management, and valuation issues pertaining to earnings volatility and growth. He teaches courses in both accounting and financial statement analysis.

Prior to joining the Darden School faculty in 2002, Simko taught at Emory University, Indiana University, and INSEAD. He is currently a research fellow with The Enterprise Risk Management Initiative at North Carolina State University, has worked as a Senior Analyst with Citicorp, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
